The Araminta Approach

The Araminta Approach is a culturally affirming, social/emotional model created by Dr. Marilyn Jones to improve outcomes in the lives of Black women with histories of incarceration.  The Approach is utilized in all of BBISB's work.  It is named in honor of our ancestor Harriet Tubman whose birth name was Araminta Ross and attributed to her ability to make a way out of no way.  To our knowledge, the Araminta Approach is the first model exclusively designed by and for Black women with histories of incarceration.
